Pioneer Scholarship Fund Receives over $160,00 GiftThe Pioneer High School Scholarship Fund held at CCCF received a huge boost in the closing days of December 2017 according to CCCF President, Deanna Crispen. Crispen stated, "Helen Paschen Hutchinson was one of eight children, born near Twelve Mile and a graduate of Metea High School in 1933.
After marrying Clarence Stern in 1939 she moved to Hammond Indiana where they operated a Hardware Business until his passing in 1967. In 1969 she married Ned Hutchinson and they permanently moved to Pompano Beach, Florida.
Mrs. Hutchinson passed away in November 2017 at the age of 101. While Helen did not have children of her own, family was still a priority and she kept close to many nieces and nephews as well as her siblings. Helen was especially close to her younger sister, Anna Brandt, who had a long career as a guidance counselor at Pioneer Jr-Sr High School. When Anna, passed away first, Helen was devastated and sought to honor her sister’s memory by making a planned gift to the Pioneer High School Scholarship Fund.
Crispen shared, “Mrs. Brandt was my guidance counselor through all four years of high school at Pioneer and her impact on the lives of students then was tremendous. The gift from Mrs. Hutchinson in her honor will continue to do the good work Anna Brandt did during her lifetime and will significantly impact both the number and amount of scholarships available.”
